I spent 30+ years as an aerospace and electrical engineer. When I retired at 55, my paycheck stopped, but my bills didn't.

So I had to create my own paychecks, one income stream at a time. Some are traditional, like rentals and oil and gas royalties. Others my wife and I run from a laptop, at home or on the road, like running an Etsy shop and selling my own AI apps. I'm currently automating print on demand and e‑book publishing.
